Grafa Pack Design

This brief involved coming up with a new product for Grafa, a small Australian company producing handmade garden tools and equipment, and creating the packaging for it. I designed a pack for a plant kit that includes a handmade copper pot, seeds and soil, for use indoors or outdoors. Grafa is a brand that is high quality and has a sense of craftsmanship, and it was important the packaging reflected these values. I created a pack with a stencil that fits over the pot, and a salt solution, that when applied to the stencil, creates a pattern on the copper surface of the pot.

The stencil feature makes the pack interactive, to give users a deeper connection to the brand and highlight Grafa’s signature use of copper. This also helps to create lasting packaging that will not immediately be thrown out. This was a total design that included the development of a physical working prototype and a logo and graphics for the product line.
